GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Three individuals, Iban Zephaniah Banks, 26; Landon Kirell Coleman, 21; and Lemorris Micah Olorunfem Dexter III, 24, were apprehended early this morning after authorities discovered a stolen firearm, a drum magazine of ammunition, and a Glock switch inside their vehicle during a traffic stop.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. on August 21, a deputy from the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office pulled over a car in the 7300 block of W. Newberry Road due to “very apparent illegal window tinting” and the scent of marijuana emanating from the car.

The driver was identified as Banks, with Coleman in the front passenger seat and Dexter in the rear. All three individuals have previous felony convictions from either their juvenile or adult years.

With marijuana clearly visible inside the car, deputies conducted a probable cause search, which uncovered “a substantial quantity” of marijuana placed in a cup with a pink liquid. Coleman was seen by deputies extending across the driver’s seat to deposit the cup in a holder, suggesting an attempt to dispose of the marijuana. Additionally, a bag with marijuana residue was reportedly located on Coleman’s lap.

Under the driver’s seat, deputies reportedly located a large drum magazine loaded with 42 rounds of 9mm ammunition. In the backseat where Dexter sat, a single 9mm round was found loose, and a Glock switch was reportedly discovered on the floor.

Inside the vehicle’s engine compartment, officers reportedly uncovered a Glock 19 Gen 5 consisting of a slide stolen in July 2024 and a frame stolen in November 2024.

A search of Dexter reportedly produced about 1.6 grams of marijuana. None of the defendants had medical marijuana cards.

Post Miranda, all three defendants reportedly declined to speak with deputies.

Banks has been charged with possession of a machine gun, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, and two counts of grand theft of a firearm. He has a juvenile conviction and two adult felony convictions. Judge Susan Miller-Jones set bail at $340,000.

Coleman has been charged with possession of a machine gun, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon, two counts of grand theft of a firearm, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of distributing drugs. Coleman has juvenile convictions between 2015 and 2020 and two adult felony convictions; he has served two state prison sentences, with his most recent release on July 25, 2025. Judge Miller-Jones set bail at $530,000.

Dexter has been charged with possession of a machine gun, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by an adjudicated delinquent, two counts of grand theft of a firearm, and possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana. He has one felony conviction and two misdemeanor convictions and has an active warrant out of Miami-Dade County. Judge Miller-Jones set bail at $342,000.
