Oscar winner Gary Oldman adds another honor to his resume with handprints at TCL Chinese Theatre

HOLLYWOOD — Actor Gary Oldman expresses his delight and appreciation for being given the honor of leaving a lasting mark at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre with his handprints, footprints, and autograph.

It’s a moment that comes with an impressive career now spanning more than 40 years.

“In terms of just the history of moviemaking and the tradition of this is–it’s an honor,” said Oldman.

Gary’s been honored three times with Best Actor Oscar nominations.

His recent nomination was for “Mank.” His first came for “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.” Between these two, he secured an award in 2018 for his role as Winston Churchill in “Darkest Hour.”

Oldman portrayed President Harry Truman in “Oppenheimer.” He has appeared in the “Harry Potter” series and the “Batman” franchise. His roles include “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” and Sid Vicious in “Sid and Nancy.” His newest project is the Apple TV+ series, “Slow Horses.”

During the ceremony, actor Jacob Elordi, Oldman’s friend and manager Doug Urbankski, and Kaley Cuoco spoke, with Cuoco reminiscing about her preferred Gary Oldman character on “Friends.”

“Gary played an unprofessional actor who incessantly spat on Joey Tribbiani, played by Matt LeBlanc,” shared Cuoco. “It truly made me laugh until I cried.”

Oldman’s next big honor comes soon…when he returns to England to be officially knighted by King Charles.

“It does seem quite a bit, doesn’t it? Honestly, I’m not that covetous. When we worked on ‘Darkest Hour,’ it felt like they were inventing awards for me,” commented Oldman. “Now, if I see an award in a hotel lobby, I pick it up and joke, saying, I don’t have this one yet.”
