LOS ANGELES — Known for his bold portrayal of Captain Kirk in “Star Trek,” his role as a no-nonsense cop in “T.J. Hooker,” and his award-winning performance as the quirky attorney Denny Crane on “Boston Legal,” William Shatner has long been a celebrated figure in Hollywood.

On a new episode of “On The Red Carpet Icons,” we’re celebrating Shatner’s incredible career with a new in-depth interview with the star.

“Is there a ‘Star Trek’ moment that makes you especially happy that you were a part of over those years?” our George Pennacchio asked him.

“Indeed, the charm of many shows and the remarkable writing, along with my numerous friends over the span of three years,” Shatner remarked. “Creating a series is a wonderfully personal endeavor.”

Besides his acting career, Shatner is famed as a versatile talent, being a successful writer and musician. At 90, he set a record as the oldest person to journey into space aboard Blue Origin’s NS-18 Mission in 2021.

“The experience was incredibly moving,” Shatner shared. “When the announcement came, ‘Alright, we’re gonna move the gantry,’ followed by ‘Anyone who wants to disembark should do so now,’ I fleetingly considered it and then thought, ‘I can’t, I’m Captain Kirk!’”

With a chuckle, Shatner recounted, “So I remained seated and gazed at the small blue planet. I was, and still am, awestruck by the magic of life’s interconnectedness on Earth.”

In a fresh installment of “On The Red Carpet Icons,” Shatner reflects on his beginnings in Canada before fame, his early success on Broadway, and upcoming endeavors, including a deeply personal new music album.

“One of the songs is my wife keeps saying, ‘what’ll I do when you die?’ What am I going to do?'” Shatner explained. “And so I wrote a song about where I’ll be when I die.”

He also shares which of his characters he would “probably” describe as the role of a lifetime, which “Star Trek” movie he thinks is the best and why he was almost arrested three times!
