A Texas woman is facing charges, following the hot car deaths of her two children.
According to News 4 San Antonio, Tiona Lasaisha Islar reported on Saturday that she discovered her children, Sevani Stevenson, age 6, and Miyani Islar, age 3, deceased inside a vehicle.
Around 3:00 p.m., deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff’s department were dispatched to a residence on Chancery Gate and Appleton Way in Bexar County’s Far West Side, close to Alamo Ranch.
When deputies arrived, they attempted life-saving measures on the two children until EMS arrived.
Islar informed the authorities that she last observed her children inside the house before she decided to rest around 10 a.m. However, her account reportedly had discrepancies.
According to Sheriff Salazar, “Something is not adding up about this case”
“The first report indicated that the children were left in the vehicle, but I must note, without delving into too many specifics, that there are current inconsistencies in the accounts. I’m not entirely confident to assert that’s definitively what happened.”
Child Protective Services (CPS) also responded to the situation. Law enforcement arrested Islar on the same day for Injury to a Child SBI/Death, as reported by Fox San Antonio.
The sheriff’s office urges locals who might have surveillance footage from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in the vicinity of Chancery Gate and Appleton Way to reach out to BCSO at 210-335-6000 or email BCSOTIPS@bexar.org.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to determine the official cause of death for both children.
