Sharon Osbourne refers to the picturesque Buckinghamshire home she shared with the late Ozzy Osbourne as her ‘little piece of heaven’ in an upcoming documentary, recorded just before the rock star’s passing.

The Black Sabbath icon passed away from heart failure at their residence on July 22, merely two weeks after performing a final concert with his bandmates at Villa Park in Birmingham.

He has since been laid to rest in the private grounds of Welders House, a Grade II listed estate that Ozzy and Sharon acquired in 1993, shortly before they moved to Los Angeles.

The upcoming BBC One documentary, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, will document the last three years of the metal legend’s life as they transition from the United States back to England.

Scheduled to premiere on Thursday evening, the fly-on-the-wall series will feature Ozzy, who was diagnosed with a genetic form of Parkinson’s in 2003, as he prepares for his major relocation to the UK.

‘We’re so accustomed to chasing after the kids that we don’t really know what it’s like to just be with ourselves and each other. I can’t wait until I am there,’ he shares with the filmmakers.

Elsewhere, the rocker’s devoted wife admits she’s happy to leave their comfortable life in southern California, if it makes Ozzy happy.

She says: ‘It is Ozzy’s decision whether he wants to spend the rest of his life there or here. Home is where both of us are. As long as he is with me I am alright.’

In a twist of fate, Sharon later shared her thoughts on the sprawling property that would later serve as Ozzy’s final resting place.

‘It was just like I could breathe,’ she said of her return to the Buckinghamshire pile. ‘It’s our little piece of heaven.

‘All you hear are birds, little bit of our dogs barking, Ozzy screaming.’

The new documentary will also feature the final love notes left by Ozzy to his wife as they adjusted to their new life in England.

Viewers will see numerous handwritten messages to Sharon strewn about the sprawling property, among them ‘I Love You Forever,’ ‘I Don’t Half Love You’ and ‘I Will Always Be There For You.’

The notes, which have been framed, also include the poignant message, ‘You Are The Love Of My Life.’

Viewers will see Sharon recall how they always planned to retire from public life after the rocker turned 70.

‘I always always told Ozzy, when you’re 70, we say goodbye,’ she said of her discussion with the rocker, who was 76 at the time of his death.

Despite Ozzy’s hell raising reputation as a pioneering heavy metal frontman, Sharon also insisted they led a very conventional life behind closed doors.

She said: ‘We’re quite normal. We’re quite boring, really, when it comes down to it.’

Ozzy died of a heart attack and had coronary artery disease in addition to suffering from Parkinson’s disease for years, his death certificate, published in August, confirmed.

The singer had suffered from coronary artery disease as well as Parkinson’s, according to the certificate filed at a register office in London and obtained by The New York Times

Ozzy, also a somewhat unlikely reality TV star, announced in 2020 that he had Parkinson’s disease after suffering a fall.

In announcing his death, his family asked for privacy and said that he was with relatives when he died.

‘It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,’ read a statement released shortly after his death.

‘He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.’

Black Sabbath´s 1969 self-titled debut LP has been likened to the Big Bang of heavy metal. It came during the height of the Vietnam War and crashed the hippie party, dripping menace and foreboding.

The cover of the record was of a spooky figure against a stark landscape. The music was loud, dense and angry, and marked a shift in rock ´n´ roll.

The band´s second album, Paranoid, included such classic metal tunes as War Pigs, Iron Man and Fairies Wear Boots.

The song Paranoid only reached No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 but became in many ways the band´s signature song.

Both albums were voted among the top 10 greatest heavy metal albums of all time by readers of Rolling Stone magazine.
