Peru’s president refuses to resign after Gen Z protests leave at least 1 dead, 100 injured

In the bustling city of Lima, Peru’s newly installed President José Jerí faced mounting pressure on Thursday but stood firm in his decision to remain in office. This resolve came in the wake of a tragic incident during a large-scale protest led by Gen Z activists, which resulted in the death of one demonstrator. These protests, fueled by the demand for Jerí’s resignation, have spotlighted the country’s deep-seated issues.
