A Mississippi mother is under scrutiny following the tragic deaths of her two young sons, who drowned, leading to her arrest with potential for further legal consequences.

Amber Goldman, 36, was taken into custody by Gautier Police Department officers on Monday. The arrest followed an investigation into the deaths of her sons, aged 2 and 5. According to a statement from the police department, they were called to Goldman’s residence at 5:30 p.m. after a report of two unresponsive children.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered the boys near a swimming pool at their home on 3 Oaks Drive in Gautier. Emergency responders performed life-saving measures before transporting the children to a local hospital, where they were declared deceased.

As reported by WLOX, an affiliate of ABC and CBS, Jackson County Deputy Coroner James Prisock verified that the boys succumbed to drowning. The specific circumstances surrounding the incident remain undisclosed.

The police revealed that Goldman faces charges for possession of a controlled substance and related paraphernalia. However, details regarding the exact substance involved have not been released. Law&Crime has sought additional insights from a detective at the Gautier Police Department but has yet to receive a response.

Police said that additional charges against Goldman were pending as the investigation into her sons’ deaths continues.

Gautier Police Chief David Bever said in the press release, “This is an unimaginable tragedy that has deeply affected our community. Our hearts are with the family, friends, and first responders impacted by this heartbreaking loss. We ask everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as investigators continue to seek answers.”
