Alabama Man Arrested for Threats Against ‘Multiple Synagogues’

On Monday evening, an Alabama resident found himself in handcuffs after law enforcement agencies were alerted to his “credible threats of violence” directed at synagogues across Alabama and neighboring states.

The man, identified as Jeremy Wayne Shoemaker, was apprehended at his residence in Needham following the execution of a search warrant. During the search, authorities confiscated a cache of weapons, a significant amount of ammunition exceeding the size of a suitcase, body armor, and other paraphernalia that suggested the preparation of violent acts.

The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office disclosed that further investigations uncovered Shoemaker’s plans to avoid capture at all costs, with an alleged plot targeting public figures. “The subject had intentions of not being taken alive and was possibly planning attacks on public figures as well,” the sheriff’s office stated in a public announcement.

Shoemaker now faces local charges, including resisting arrest and being a certain person forbidden from certain activities. However, the investigation is still active, and authorities anticipate the filing of multiple federal charges in the near future.
