HAWKINS COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Authorities detained a woman following a shooting incident at Phipps Bend Industrial Park in Hawkins County on Saturday.

The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported that deputies arrived at the scene to discover a man suffering from gunshot wounds on the road.

The victim identified his assailant as his former spouse, Deanna McCarty, 53, hailing from Orange, Virginia. She initially escaped the scene but was later apprehended at a rental home in Church Hill.

McCarty was subsequently taken into custody at the Hawkins County Jail and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder.

Sheriff Ronnie Lawson noted, “Due to ongoing court proceedings, no further details will be disclosed at this time.”
