WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall concerning certain Häagen-Dazs Dark Chocolate Mini Bars due to the potential presence of undeclared wheat.

The company made this announcement public via the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website on Tuesday, alerting consumers of the issue.

Dreyer’s stressed the urgency of the matter by highlighting that individuals with wheat allergies or severe sensitivities risk experiencing serious or potentially life-threatening reactions if they consume these bars.

Dreyer's voluntarily recalled a limited number of Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars.

The recalled items are packaged in six-count boxes, each marked with a “best by” date of January 31, 2027.

Consumers can identify the affected products by checking for the batch code LLA519501, as indicated on the product packaging.

The products in question were distributed to Kroger stores across 29 states, including major regions such as Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, and California, among others.

The recalled product was also shipped to Giant Eagle locations in five states including Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Photos of the recalled products and additional details can be found on the FDA website.

“No other Häagen-Dazs products or other batches of Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars are affected by this recall,” Dreyer’s said in its announcement Monday.

The company said no illnesses or injuries have been reported to date in connection with the recall, which is being carried out in cooperation with the FDA.

“We are recalling this product because it may contain products that contain wheat in packaging that does not reveal the presence of wheat on the label,” Dreyer’s said. “Although our investigation is ongoing, we believe products containing wheat were repacked into the incorrect packaging at the beginning of a production run.”

The company has instructed consumers with a wheat allergy or sensitivity not to consume the recalled product and to instead discard it or “return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.”

“The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority,” Dreyer’s stated. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.”

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Dreyer’s via email at dreyers@casupport.com, or by phone at (800) 767-0120, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

ABC News has reached out to Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, as well as its parent company Froneri, for additional comment.
