Scott Loeffer charged with armed robbery of staffer at Illinois state Senator Don Harmon's Oak Park, Illinois office: court docs

A man has been charged with committing an armed robbery at the office of Illinois Senate President Don Harmon in Oak Park, according to court records.

Authorities report that Scott Loeffer, a resident of Chicago, allegedly entered Senator Harmon’s office on North Avenue this past Friday, where he confronted a staff member with a knife.

During the incident, Loeffer reportedly brandished the knife at a female employee and subsequently stole her iPhone. He now faces charges of armed robbery.

In a statement, Senator Harmon, a Democratic representative of Illinois’ 39th District, confirmed that the staff member involved was unharmed. He also noted that the robbery does not appear to have been driven by political motives.

At this time, additional details about the incident have not been disclosed.

“On Friday, a man entered the district office and confronted an employee with a knife. Thank God she is physically unharmed. The suspect is in custody and charged with armed robbery.

This incident does not appear to have been politically motivated.

I want to thank the Oak Park Police Department for a quick response, and I want to thank my staff for their bravery and unwavering commitment to public service. Their safety is my top priority.”
