In a statement, Senator Harmon, a Democratic representative of Illinois’ 39th District, confirmed that the staff member involved was unharmed. He also noted that the robbery does not appear to have been driven by political motives.

At this time, additional details about the incident have not been disclosed.

Further information was not immediately available.

Harmon’s full statement:
“On Friday, a man entered the district office and confronted an employee with a knife. Thank God she is physically unharmed. The suspect is in custody and charged with armed robbery.

This incident does not appear to have been politically motivated.
