Oscar Mayer begins search for new class of Wienermobile drivers

Oscar Mayer is on the lookout for 12 enthusiastic individuals to embark on a year-long adventure as “Hotdoggers,” driving the iconic 27-foot Wienermobile across the country. This unique job blends brand ambassadorship, content creation, and travel.

WASHINGTON — If you’ve ever dreamed of a job where you can travel the nation, weave creative stories, and cruise around in a massive hot dog on wheels, look no further. Oscar Mayer is recruiting the next batch of drivers for its famous Wienermobile.

The company is seeking 12 vibrant, full-time drivers for its celebrated Wienermobile. This year-long role is perfect for “outgoing, creative, friendly, exuberant, college graduates who have an appetite for adventure,” as per the job listing.

In this position, you’ll become an official spokesperson for the multi-billion dollar brand, journeying through over 30 states and participating in hundreds of events.

According to Oscar Mayer, “Hotdoggers” are responsible for crafting unique content about their travels and engaging the public in “meat” and greets that appeal to all generations.

This marks the 39th class of “Hotdoggers.” The Wienermobile has been a staple on U.S. roads since 1936, but the “Hotdogger Program” officially began in 1988.

To cut the mustard, candidates will need a bachelor’s degree — preferably in public relations or similar communications fields.

Even if you meet those qualifications, competition may be fierce. According to USA Today, less than 1% of applicants were hired on average, with over 5,000 people applying on average.

“The title of a Hotdogger is a rare and coveted position unique to those seeking adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Ed Roland, ‘Top Dog’ and Sr. Manager Brand Communications for Oscar Mayer, said in a statement. “Statistically speaking, more people have visited space than driven the Wienermobile!”

How much do Oscar Mayer Wienermobile drivers make?

Along with driving the hottest ride in town, drivers will earn a base salary of $35,600 a year, according to the job posting.

“Hotdoggers” have an additional weekly allowance of $150 or $7,200 a year for meals and personal travel. Other benefits include 18 days of paid time off, a full health benefits package and all hotel expenses covered.

How to apply to be an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile driver

If you’re ready to take the wheel of one of the most iconic vehicles in America, applications are available online on the Kraft Heinz careers site. Remember, only 12 people will make the cut, so be sure to showcase your creativity to stand out.

Aspiring “Hotdoggers” can apply until Jan. 31, 2026.

“There is no better way to jumpstart your career than behind the wheel of an American icon, and each year applicants go all out to get our attention—whether it be creating social media videos or mailing in creative scrapbooks and projects to our headquarters,” Molle Twing, Senior Brand Manager for Oscar Mayer and former Hotdogger said.

The position starts on the first week of June and will end the first week of June 2027.
