An Iowa mother faces charges following the tragic death of her infant son, discovered head-first in a trash bin this past January.
The infant succumbed to his injuries a week later, according to a report by WGEM.
A legal document reveals that on the morning of January 27, 28-year-old Jaley D. Bush fell asleep while visiting a friend. Her baby was reportedly lying next to her on the bed. Upon waking, she claimed to find the child in the trash can beside the bed, speculating that he had somehow crawled over or around her in her sleep.
The complaint, as highlighted by KHQA, accuses Bush of neglecting the basic level of supervision necessary to safeguard her child, ultimately leading to his demise.
Authorities noted signs of drug influence in Bush when they arrived at the scene. She admitted to taking Klonopin, an anti-anxiety medication, claiming ignorance about the drug’s origin, as reported by WGEM. Subsequent blood tests detected both benzodiazepine and methamphetamine in her system.
The complaint states that the baby passed away from asphyxia on February 5. Consequently, Bush has been charged with child endangerment resulting in death.
