GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Huy Quang Do, 25, who previously faced nine felony charges, has been accused of 31 additional felonies following a search of his phone. Investigators allege that Do repeatedly picked up a 12-year-old Lake City girl over an eight-month period, took her to his apartment and had sex with her.
The case began on August 4, when an adult reported the girl missing. Authorities tracked her to Do’s apartment at The Continuum, located at 491 W. University Ave., where Do and the victim were reportedly found. Investigators said Do met the girl, who was 12 at the time, on Tinder, and the two began communicating regularly by phone. In December 2025, Do allegedly drove to Lake City, picked her up and brought her to his Gainesville apartment, where they engaged in sexual intercourse. The victim reportedly told investigators that this occurred at least five times, including most recently on August 4, when she was 13.
Following Do’s arrest, law enforcement obtained several search warrants. The details below are based on evidence investigators said they recovered afterward.
According to investigators, Do began communicating with another 12-year-old girl on Tinder on December 14, 2025. That girl introduced Do to her friend—the victim in this case—and created a group chat involving all three. Investigators said Do learned that same day that both girls were 12. Do and the victim exchanged text messages for eight hours before he allegedly drove to Lake City to meet them. Before leaving, Do reportedly asked the victim whether he should “bring condoms,” and the two decided that he would. Investigators said Do sexually battered the victim, using the condoms, during the early morning hours of December 15 after traveling to Lake City.
Investigators said Do acknowledged “on numerous occasions” that the victim was a child, knew she attended middle school and was going through puberty, and understood that he could be arrested.

Do allegedly recorded himself having sex with the victim on “most” occasions when they were together. Investigators also said he sent the child “dozens” of sexually explicit and graphic text messages and repeatedly pressured her to send nude videos or videos of herself touching her body in a sexual manner. The text messages reportedly show that the victim complied at times and refused at others.
A detective said Do “hurl[ed] cruel insults” at the victim nearly every day. The messages, the detective wrote, revealed “the depth of the manipulation, abuse, and exploitation of the child [victim] by [Do].”
The detective said Do’s phone contained 87 images of the victim classified as child pornography, along with additional images considered “lewd and/or lascivious in nature.” Investigators said all of the images “were either produced by [Do] himself or produced by [Do] by directing the child [victim] to make and/or take such images and/or videos.”
In addition to the nine felony charges previously filed, Do now faces two counts of kidnapping a child under 13 for the purpose of committing sexual battery; seven counts of sexual battery involving a child between 12 and 18; attempted lewd or lascivious battery; seven counts of using a child in a sexual performance; four counts of attempting to use a child in a sexual performance; three counts of traveling to meet a minor for unlawful sexual activity; one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child; two counts of explicit communication with a minor; and four counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child.
Do is being held without bail.
