The individual, whose age remains unknown, was rushed to Stroger Hospital and is currently in critical condition, according to fire department officials.

Authorities have not yet confirmed if there were any other injuries resulting from the incident.

Due to this emergency situation, CTA reported that Blue Line services are experiencing delays, particularly at the Damen stop where the fire department is active.

Riders have been advised by the CTA to use the O’Hare-bound side for boarding trains between the Western and Damen stations.

Trains in both directions are running on the same track between those stops, the CTA said.

Officials did not immediately provide further information.

This comes as the CTA is implementing a new safety plan as instructed by the federal government. More Chicago police patrols are expected on trains Friday.
