Dad’s Girlfriend Moved to Indiana Jail, Where Both Will Face Charges Related to 9-Year-Old Girl’s Death

A woman previously convicted for her involvement in the tragic case of her boyfriend’s 9-year-old daughter, whose remains were discovered in a Kentucky storage unit, has been transferred to Indiana to confront additional charges.

Chyanne Porter admitted guilt to charges including corpse abuse, evidence tampering, and two counts of child abuse involving a child under 12 in Daviess County, Kentucky. The remains of Alianna Maya Gomez-Alvarez were uncovered at an Owensboro storage unit in 2022, as reported by the Owensboro Times.

The girl’s father, Jose Gomez-Alvarez, also pleaded guilty to similar charges of corpse abuse and evidence tampering and was extradited to Indiana for further legal proceedings in April.

According to CrimeOnline, both Porter and Gomez-Alvarez were apprehended in October 2022 after Alianna’s remains were located during an investigation into her disappearance. The storage unit in question was registered under Porter’s name.

Investigators found out through the missing girl’s siblings that she had passed away at their residence in Evansville, Indiana, the Times detailed. Gomez-Alvarez’s biological children alleged they suffered abuse from both their father and Porter, and that the young girl tragically died following seizures.

An affidavit noted, “Upon returning home, Porter wrapped the 9-year-old’s body and placed it in a plastic tub alongside deceased pets. She then sealed the lid with duct tape, and eventually, the tub was moved to a storage unit in Owensboro near Days Inn.”

The affidavit said that Porter and Gomez-Alvarez regularly abused his three children — including not feeding them, forcing them to stay in the basement, and other forms of abuse — but not the two children they shared together, WFIE reported.

Porter was booked Tuesday into the Vanderburgh County jail in Indiana, where she is charged with nine counts of neglect of dependent, obstruction of justice, abuse of corpse, and failure to report a dead body — the same charges levied against Gomez Alvarez.

Both are being held without bond, jail records show.
