The death of the 37-year-old has become a rallying cry for those prepared to resist what they see as an overreach by the federal government. In response, cities across the nation are quietly assembling to counter these policies, with some even preparing for a potential civil conflict.
In Minneapolis, the site of Good’s death, Mayor Jacob Frey has made his stance clear, telling ICE agents to “get the [expletive] out” of the city. The state of Minnesota has taken further steps by legally challenging the federal government, accusing it of executing a “federal invasion.”
As ICE, under the direction of Kristi Noem’s department, plans to expand their operations into more urban areas, resistance groups are mobilizing. These liberal coalitions are training individuals to actively disrupt deportation efforts by directly confronting ICE agents.
In Seattle, newly elected socialist Mayor Katie Wilson has called on residents to join “Washington for All ICE Mobilization Alerts.” This group is organizing to create a coordinated response to ICE activities in the region.
Similarly, in Manhattan, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have rallied over 4,000 activists to form “rapid response” teams. According to the New York Post, these teams are poised to act swiftly in opposition to ICE operations, exemplifying the nationwide call to action against federal immigration enforcement.
‘This will take all of us,’ the Seattle Mayor said in a rallying call to residents via a video message posted on her X account, while she also joined protests in the city.
‘We already have laws in place that forbid our local police from aiding ICE in most instances. The police will adhere to these laws. That’s an important step,’ added Wilson, who was sworn in as mayor on January 1.

‘But it’s also true that we have limited authority with regard to the actions of federal agencies, and I know that our existing laws are not enough to keep people safe.
‘So I’m working with Police Chief Barnes, City Attorney Evans, immigrant rights groups and local leaders to identify every possible legal argument, public resource and creative tool we can use to keep the people of Seattle safe.’
Wilson went on to urge residents to sign up for Washington for All ICE Mobilization Alerts, a group which is training to ‘mobilize a unified response’ to ICE activities.
‘And don’t stop there,’ she added. ‘I encourage you to raise your voices and demand that every elected official does what they can to protect the people who make our neighborhoods home.
‘This is a scary situation, and situations like this are when we show ourselves who we are, and what we believe. Here in Seattle, we practice solidarity. Everyone should be safe in their homes, in their workplaces, and in their cities.
‘My message to our immigrant neighbors: this is your city, you should be safe here, and I’m determined to make it that way.’
Meanwhile, members of the group affiliated with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), are mobilizing in Manhattan.

Around 100 people met at the People’s Forum in the city’s Midtown on Thursday to coordinate the training of 2,000 DSA members and 2,000 non-members, according to a New York Post reporter who attended the meeting.
The group plans to show up en masse to confirm ICE sightings, then use rape whistles to alert people about the presence of the federal agents.
‘There are more of us than them,’ one of the group’s leaders, Leemah Nasrati, told the meeting.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said it has recently more than doubled the number of ICE officers deployed across the US from 10,000 to 22,000.
‘With these new patriots on the team, we will be able to accomplish what many say was impossible and fulfill President Trump’s promise to make America safe again,’ the department said in a statement about the numbers boost released this month.
The DHS said it received more than 220,000 applications to join ICE in just four months, and it is continuing to accept applications.
Last month, the DHS also celebrated removing more than 2.5 million people from the US during the first year of Trump’s second administration.

They said that more than 605,000 ‘illegal aliens’ had been deported by DHS enforcement operations, while 1.9 million had ‘voluntarily self-deported’.
The department launched the CBP Home app which allows illegal immigrations to take a free flight home, while receiving $1,000 as an extra incentive.
‘Illegal aliens are hearing our message to leave now,’ Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.
‘They know if they don’t, we will find them, we will arrest them, and they will never return.’
Jonathan ‘Jon’ Ross, the ICE agent who shot Good, is unlikely to face any charges, and Donald Trump has defended him, saying he is lucky to be alive.
‘She behaved horribly,’ Trump told the New York Times of Good. ‘And then she ran him over. She didn’t try to run him over. She ran him over.’
Federal officials have claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense.
