ORLANDO, Fla. – In a rare meteorological event, Florida experienced snowfall for the second consecutive year.

Snowfall is an infrequent occurrence in Florida, making two consecutive years of snow a noteworthy anomaly.

The Panhandle witnessed this unusual weather on January 18, following a significant snowfall in early 2025, marking a rare back-to-back snow event for the region.

According to the National Weather Service, Pensacola International Airport recorded 0.09 inches of snow within a six-hour timeframe at 5:53 a.m. This snowfall coincides with last year’s winter event in the Mobile–Pensacola area.

The previous year’s storm was a historic event. On January 21, 2025, an intense winter storm transformed the northern Gulf Coast into a snowy landscape.

During that storm, Pensacola set a new two-day snowfall record with an astonishing 8.9 inches, surpassing the previous record of 3.0 inches set in February 1895.
