Thousands of anti-Trump protesters expected to walk off the job Tuesday

On Tuesday, a significant number of workers are anticipated to leave their jobs early as part of a large-scale protest marking the first anniversary of President Trump’s second inauguration. This demonstration, which is expected to draw tens of thousands, is set to take place at 2 p.m. and is being dubbed the Free America Protest, according to a report by Axios.

Organizers have reported that nearly 40,000 individuals have RSVP’d for the event. Participants are encouraged to gather wearing the patriotic colors of red, white, and blue at key locations across New York City, including Central Park, Prospect Park, Washington Square Park, and Trump Tower in Midtown. This protest is part of a broader movement with over 800 events planned, despite predictions of chilly weather conditions in New York City.

The Free America movement has described the protest as more than just a plea but rather a significant disruption and a vow to bring about change. Their website emphasizes, “This is not a request. This is a rupture. This is a protest and a promise.”

In addition to workers, students are being encouraged to leave their classes and join the march against the Trump administration’s policies. Protesters are particularly concerned about actions such as the deployment of federal law enforcement in U.S. cities and aggressive stances toward traditional allies.

Tamika Middleton, the Managing Director of the Women’s March, who has played a crucial role in organizing the protest, stated that the participants aim to deliver a clear message: “We withdraw our consent from what is happening” under the current administration.

Women’s March Managing Director Tamika Middleton helped organize Tuesday’s protest. She said participants want to send a message “that we withdraw our consent from what is happening” within the Trump administration.

According to Axios, Tuesday’s activities could be a sign of things to come as the sophomore year of Trump’s second presidency gets underway. National No Kings rallies protest reportedly attracted 7-million participants in October. Thousands of New Yorkers, including elected officials, marched on Fifth Avenue this month in a related demonstration. Researchers claim that increasingly large protests can be effective in forcing change.

“In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable,” Free America’s website claims.

President Trump celebrated the state of the nation with a social media post declaring “America is back!!!” late Monday afternoon.

He cites the soaring stock market and tightened U.S. borders among his successes over the past year.
