Kendall County, Illinois, finds itself at the center of a chilling investigation following a tragic incident in an unincorporated area of Oswego Township. Authorities are probing the circumstances surrounding the shooting of a 14-year-old girl and the discovery of a deceased male at the same location.
The unsettling events came to light when Chicago police informed the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office that the young girl, who had suffered a gunshot wound to her leg, received treatment and was subsequently released from a hospital in the Chicago area. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday morning, between 8 and 10 a.m., at a residence on Palomino Lane.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the home, Kendall County sheriff’s deputies made a grim find: a male victim, shot multiple times, lying dead at the scene. This discovery has prompted an urgent investigation by local law enforcement officials.
In a significant development, investigators have detained a potential person of interest. Although this individual is currently in custody, authorities have yet to file any charges as the investigation continues.
According to the police, the shooting appears to be a targeted act, with no broader threat posed to the surrounding community. The investigation remains active as officials work diligently to piece together the events leading to this tragic outcome.
The incident appears targeted, and there is no threat to the greater community, police said.
Police believe the shots were fired from outside the home.
The girl is from Chicago, a Kendall County spokesperson said.
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force and the Kendall County Coroner’s Office on the investigation.
