ICE arrests illegal immigrants convicted of child rape, sexual assault, drug trafficking

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) made a significant announcement on Friday, unveiling the latest efforts by federal enforcement officers to apprehend illegal immigrants with convictions for violent and sexual offenses. This initiative underscores a focused crackdown on individuals posing significant threats to public safety.

On Thursday, officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) successfully detained multiple offenders. These individuals were previously convicted of serious crimes, including the rape of minors, sexual assault, methamphetamine distribution, and aggravated assault, according to information provided by the DHS.

Tricia McLaughlin, the outgoing Assistant Secretary of the DHS, highlighted the challenges faced by ICE agents in a statement. “Even while confronting doxing, threats, harassment, and an alarming increase of over 1,300% in assaults against them, ICE remains steadfast in targeting criminal illegal aliens, particularly those involved in heinous acts such as pedophilia, violent sexual crimes, and drug trafficking,” she emphasized.

The recent arrests include individuals like Michelle Rodriguez-Berrio, an illegal immigrant from Colombia. Rodriguez-Berrio was convicted in Salt Lake City, Utah, for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, illustrating the range of serious offenses ICE is addressing.

These operations are part of a broader DHS strategy to enhance community safety by removing individuals who have committed grave offenses, thereby reaffirming its commitment to upholding the law and protecting citizens.

Earlier this month, a DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital that ICE officers are “facing a coordinated campaign of violence against them.”

According to DHS, assaults against ICE personnel have increased by more than 1,300%, death threats have risen 8,000%, and vehicle attacks have climbed 3,200%.

“Nearly 70% of all ICE arrests are of illegal aliens convicted or charged of a crime in the U.S.,” McLaughlin added. “If you break the law, you will face the consequences. Criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the U.S.”

DHS did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
