In a tragic incident in Wisconsin, a woman has been accused of fatally shooting a man following a dispute over a delivery meal, where the victim suspected his chicken had been taken. Authorities have reported the details of the case.

Bonnie Blackwell, aged 41, faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and illegal possession of a firearm, as documented in court records accessed by Law&Crime. She was apprehended and placed in Milwaukee County Jail on Thursday.

The charges against Blackwell stem from the death of 63-year-old Charley Collins, as outlined in a criminal complaint obtained by local news station, Fox affiliate WITI.

The incident occurred around midnight on February 21st, at a residence located near the 2900 block of North 22nd Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

According to a witness account, Collins had retrieved a food order from a delivery service. Upon returning inside, he was confronted by Blackwell, leading to a heated exchange, as detailed in the complaint.

Blackwell allegedly recounted hearing Collins accuse someone of stealing his chicken. On investigating, she noticed a Dr Pepper on the porch but no sign of the chicken. The situation escalated when Collins reportedly approached her in the hallway, using aggressive language. In response, Blackwell claims she retreated, and the firearm discharged, resulting in Collins’ death, as per her statement in the complaint.

The defendant allegedly did not remember pulling the trigger but “admitted that she shot the victim in the back as he was walking away,” police said.

Officers with the Milwaukee Police Department arrived and despite attempts to save Collins’ life, he died at the scene, WITI reported. As police investigated, they found a fired bullet near the victim’s feet as well as a fired bullet casing in a hallway.

As the investigation continued, detectives said they learned that Blackwell had spoken with people in jail over the phone.

During one of the calls to Blackwell’s phone on the day of the shooting, she is alleged to have said, “I just shot somebody last night, and I think I killed him — I am going to be on the run,” the TV station reported.

Blackwell was arrested and booked. She is scheduled to have an initial appearance in court on Saturday.
