A United Airlines flight bound for New Jersey made an emergency landing shortly after departing Los Angeles on Monday due to a fire in one of its engines, according to aviation officials.

The flight, designated as United Airlines Flight 2127, departed from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) at approximately 10:15 a.m. The plane was forced to return about an hour later following a problem with its left engine, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to Fox News Digital.

United Airlines stated, “Flight 2127 safely returned to Los Angeles to address an issue with one of the engines.” They added that passengers deplaned using slides and airstairs and were subsequently transported to the terminal by bus.

The incident involved a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carrying 256 passengers and 12 crew members. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the emergency landing. While the FAA noted a problem with the left engine, they did not provide specific details regarding its nature.

Video footage captured on the tarmac depicts smoke billowing from the affected engine, with firefighters responding by dousing it with water.
