A California rabbi and educator allegedly drove directly into a 28-year-old worker who was painting parking-lot lines at a Costco, killing him, prosecutors said.
Abba Avrohom Bryski, 35, of Agoura Hills, faces a murder charge in connection with the Oct. 20 death of Nicholas Lang outside a Costco in Camarillo, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
Ventura County jail records identify Bryski’s occupation as “Educator/Rabbi.”
Lang was painting stripes at the Costco around 8:30 p.m. when Bryski allegedly drove his Infiniti Q60 coupe toward him and intentionally struck him, prosecutors said.

Authorities have not said what allegedly led Bryski to drive toward Lang or whether the two men knew one another.
Deputies were dispatched to the Costco near the gas pumps at about 8:37 p.m. after receiving a report that a man had been hit by a vehicle, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said.
Witnesses pointed deputies toward the driver, who was detained and identified as Bryski, according to the sheriff’s office.
KTLA reported that Bryski remained seated in his vehicle nearby when authorities arrived.

Lang, who was from Modesto, was transported to Ventura County Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
“This is a devastating and senseless loss of life,” Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko said. “The victim was at work, painting lines on a new parking lot, when his life was tragically cut short by an individual whose alleged actions demonstrated a shocking disregard for human life.”
“We are committed to holding the defendant accountable and pursuing justice for the victim and his loved ones,” Nasarenko added.

Bryski was arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of murder.
Prosecutors charged Bryski with murder and allege that he personally used a deadly weapon in the crime. He also faces a misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer.
Bryski appeared in Ventura County Superior Court on Monday, where his arraignment was continued until Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m. He remains jailed without bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
