In a residential area of Phoenix, a small aircraft accident resulted in injuries to three individuals.

PHOENIX — On Wednesday morning, an aircraft attempting to land at an airport near Phoenix crashed into a neighborhood, injuring three people.

The incident involved a four-seater aircraft often used for training purposes, which collided with two homes before coming to rest in a backyard, according to Phoenix Fire Department officials speaking with KPNX.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. in a neighborhood situated near Deer Valley Airport, close to the intersection of Deer Valley and Cave Creek roads.

Officials from the Phoenix Fire Department reported that both an instructor and a student aboard the plane were transported to the hospital, where their conditions were stable. The Phoenix Police Department noted that their injuries were not life-threatening. Additionally, a resident from one of the impacted homes was hospitalized and also reported to be in stable condition.

The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a Piper PA-28. The Phoenix Fire Department is collaborating with the FAA to manage the situation, while the National Transportation Safety Board has launched an investigation into the crash.

The American Red Cross Disaster Action Teams were working closely with families impacted by the crash.

Hazmat crews were on scene addressing a fuel leak from one of the wings that went into the attic area of the home.

Neighbor security cameras caught video of the plane crashing into the homes.
