Disturbing update on severed head and body parts found on Bali beach

In a grim development unfolding on Bali’s shores, authorities have confirmed that the human remains found scattered across a beach belong to a Ukrainian tourist who tragically fell victim to kidnapping. The DNA testing has established an undeniable match with Igor Komarov, a 28-year-old whose last moments were chillingly captured in a ransom video where he was seen pleading for his life.

According to reports, Komarov was forcibly taken by a group of men while riding a scooter in Jimbaran, Badung, on February 15. Since then, his disappearance had cast a shadow over the island, leaving both locals and tourists on edge.

Last week, the mystery of his fate began to unravel as human remains were found at the mouth of the Wos River, located on Bali’s lower east coast. Initially, police estimated an 80 percent likelihood that the remains, which included a head, right leg, upper chest, thighs, and internal organs, belonged to Komarov. These remains were believed to have lain undiscovered for about three days prior to their recovery.

In a somber confirmation on Friday, forensic experts announced that the DNA from the body parts matched samples taken from Komarov’s parents, conclusively identifying the remains. Bali Police Senior Commissioner Ariasandy stated, “DNA tests have been conducted by the police forensic laboratory in Jakarta into six samples we got from the body parts.” This forensic breakthrough closes a chapter on the mystery but opens up profound questions about the circumstances surrounding Komarov’s tragic end.

On Friday, authorities confirmed the body parts were identical with Mr Komarov after forensic evidence was compared with samples from his parents.

‘DNA tests have been conducted by the police forensic laboratory in Jakarta into six samples we got from the body parts,’ Bali Police Senior Commissioner Ariasandy said.

This included samples of a molar tooth, a collarbone, a fragment of the thigh bone (femur), a rib bone, a toe bone, and a fragment of the shin bone.

‘The DNA tests match with the DNA sample from [Mr Komarov’s] mother. Based on (this), we found that the body parts (were) identical to the victim.’

The day before he went missing, the tattooed Ukrainian was seen posing beside his girlfriend, glamorous influencer Yesa Mishalova in loved-up social media posts.

‘F*** 14 February, love you everyday,’ she captioned the photo, which was shared to her almost 200,000 followers on Valentine’s Day.

Officials have since suggested the couple’s romantic posts may have revealed their location to the kidnappers.

After his abduction, a haunting video emerged online showing a bruised and tearful Mr Komarov begging his parents for help.

He appeared to be missing a hand and had two black eyes.

‘They already chopped off some of my limbs, I have broken legs and punched ribcage. I’m already on meds, I already have no limbs,’ he said through tears.

‘Mummy, Daddy, I beg you, help me please, you stole those ten million, which they ask for, return these ten million please.

‘An infection will start soon. I’m just dying… I ask you very much, this is a very serious organisation, please help me, no one can find me, neither mafiosos, no one.

‘Bring me home, what[ever] is left of me at the moment, please settle with these people, they need ten million dollars, which we stole.

‘As soon as these ten million are received in their accounts, they will immediately let me go to the place where they took me.’

There has been no confirmation from Balinese investigators regarding the identity of the kidnappers. The Daily Mail has not been able to verify the original video.

During police investigations into Mr Komarov’s disappearance, GPS data from a rented minibus led investigators to a villa in Tabanan, where they suspect the ‘ransom’ video was recorded.

Senior Commissioner Ariasandy said blood found in the villa and the minibus was also identical to Mr Komarov’s DNA.

Detectives are also understood to have found a phone and bag belonging to Mr Komarov at the villa.

A Nigerian man, referred to as ‘CH’, was arrested on Monday in West Nusa Tenggara after allegedly renting the car from which police found the GPS data.

He allegedly also used a fake Belgian passport.

But the senior commissioner said he was ‘not directly involved in the [alleged] kidnapping’.

Police said they continue to hunt for six other suspects – identified last week as RM, BK, AS, VN, SM, and DH – four of whom are believed to have fled Bali.
