Nancy Guthrie neighbors asked about Internet glitches on night she went missing: report

Authorities are reportedly questioning neighbors of Nancy Guthrie about potential Internet disruptions around the time the elderly woman went missing. Guthrie, 84, disappeared on February 1, and investigators are exploring whether there might be any connection between her disappearance and technological issues in the Tucson area.

While it remains uncertain whether the Arizona investigators see a direct link between these Internet problems and Guthrie’s disappearance, they have taken the step of interviewing several of her neighbors. According to a report by NBC’s “TODAY” show, where Guthrie’s daughter, Savannah Guthrie, serves as a host, both the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have been involved in these inquiries.

Investigators have informed some residents that Internet connectivity issues were reported by others in the neighborhood on the night before Guthrie’s suspected abduction. However, those who were questioned on Thursday, as part of a door-to-door investigation, mentioned they were either asleep or not at home during the time these glitches might have occurred.

Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie has taken a leave of absence to focus on the search for her mother. Despite the ongoing investigation, she made a brief visit to NBC’s studios on Thursday, where she shared with her colleagues that she anticipates returning to her role on the morning show in the future.

An NBC News reported asked Pima County’s sheriff if the suspect in Guthrie’s disappearance may have had with him a WiFi jammer. They were told that investigators were looking at “every angle” of a brief surveillance video recovered from the missing woman’s damaged doorbell camera. Little evidence has been shared with the public aside from that clip showing an armed man approaching the home wearing masks and gloves.

Savannah Guthrie has been on leave throughout the investigation, but visited NBC’s studios Thursday to tell colleagues she expects to return to the morning program at some point.

She and her siblings are offering a $1 million reward to see their mother again. The 54-year-old TV personality conceded in a video posted to social media on Feb. 14 “she may already be gone.”
