Drunk mom allegedly left crying child at bar to go to Universal resort nightclub

In Florida, a mother was taken into custody after allegedly leaving her distressed child at a bar to hit the dance floor at a nightclub within Universal Orlando Resort’s lively entertainment area.

Thirty-three-year-old Amanda Thorpe from Lake Mary was arrested when authorities located her 12-year-old daughter alone at the CW Shoreline Bar on a Saturday night, as detailed in an arrest report acquired by The Post.

Upon arrival, officers found the young girl “visibly upset, crying, and sitting alone on a bar stool,” according to the affidavit.

The child informed Orange County deputies that her mother had brought her to the bar near Universal’s CityWalk lagoon but abandoned her there after an outburst involving angry words directed at the 12-year-old, the report stated.

Thorpe reportedly left the bar in a huff following a comment by another patron, as well as her daughter’s wish to return to their hotel room.

“A patron at the bar made a remark that upset Amanda. She expressed a desire to visit the Red Coconut Club, while [REDACTED] indicated she preferred to head back to the hotel due to fatigue,” the affidavit revealed, with the daughter’s name withheld.

“Amanda got livid with [REDACTED], displayed the middle finger, said, ‘(Expletive) you,’ and left the CW Shoreline Bar without [REDACTED],” the documents continued.

Police then tracked the mom to the nearby Red Coconut Club, where she was spotted on the dance floor by herself and holding an alcoholic beverage.

The dazed mother told investigators that she thought the girl had been with her the whole time, the affidavit claimed.

“I noticed that Amanda had red, bloodshot eyes, uncontrollable swaying of the body, unbalance while walking, and the scent of fruity purities coming from her breath,” a deputy wrote, noting she appeared drunk.

Thorpe, who was wearing party beads in her mug shot, was taken into custody and faces a third-degree child neglect charge, according to court records.

She pleaded not guilty at an initial court hearing and was ordered held on $2,500 bond, records show.
