On Tuesday, New York transit authorities initiated legal action against the Trump administration, alleging a wrongful withholding of nearly $60 million earmarked for extending the Second Avenue Subway into East Harlem.
Filed in the Court of Federal Claims located in Washington, D.C., the lawsuit contends that the federal government’s reluctance to release the agreed-upon funds jeopardizes the ambitious $7 billion project. This expansion aims to introduce new Q train stations at 106th, 116th, and 125th streets.
Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her concern, stating, “Donald Trump’s unlawful funding pause has put this entire project at risk.”
