Man accused of killing parents with hammer, knife, then calling 911 to confess: report

An Arizona resident has reportedly admitted to killing his parents during a 911 call, claiming he used a hammer and knife in the attack, as detailed in court records.

Authorities have charged Jonathan Turk, 29, with the murders of his parents, Fraser Turk, 63, and Tina Turk, 56. The couple’s bodies were found in their Peoria home on March 31.

The police report indicates that Turk contacted 911 at approximately 6:29 p.m., confessing to the crime. He allegedly explained to the dispatcher that he was provoked by anger over being placed on medication, according to documents accessed by FOX 10 Phoenix.

Turk reportedly assured authorities that he would remain outside, identifiable by holding a water bottle, until officers arrived, investigators noted.

Following the incident, officers retrieved a hammer and knife from a trash can within the property, believed to be the murder weapons, as per court documents reviewed by FOX 10 Phoenix. After being taken into custody, Turk chose not to provide any further statements to investigators.

Prosecutors say the case follows a history of mental health concerns. Court documents indicate the victims had filed multiple mental health petitions involving Turk, including three in 2026.

“We have concerns about his mental health and mental stability at this time,” a prosecutor said during a court hearing.

Neighbors described the killings as shocking, though some said they had felt uneasy around Turk prior to the violence.

“I saw the mother, and she was normal and very kind,” one neighbor told FOX 10 Phoenix.

Another neighbor said they avoided him altogether, recalling a “bad feeling” when he was nearby.

“It was just a gut feeling. Like, a bad feeling. Like something was not right,” the neighbor said. “I just always tried to walk on the other side of the street when I saw him out, and I just felt really uncomfortable because I have kids.”

A friend paid tribute to the couple, writing that they are “struggling to understand such a senseless killing,” describing the couple as “two beautiful souls” who had been married for decades.

“They were the definition of a model couple,” the friend wrote on his Facebook. “They were an anchor of kindness and devotion… My heart is absolutely broken, and I will miss them beyond measure.”

Turk faces two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder. His bond was set at $2 million cash-only, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 9.
