Couple found in final embrace after being killed on way home from wedding

A heartbreaking scene unfolded in Tucuman, northern Argentina, where a couple was discovered locked in each other’s arms, tragically caught in a final embrace after flash flooding claimed their lives. Mariano Robles and Solana Albornoz met their untimely end while returning home from a wedding celebration when their car was engulfed by the sudden deluge.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday as the couple’s journey from the wedding reception was abruptly halted. According to reports from Jam Press, their vehicle, a white Nissan Versa, was swept into an irrigation ditch, trapping them inside near the town of Tafi Viejo, close to the regional capital, San Miguel de Tucuman.

Authorities discovered the upturned car in the ditch, and inside, the couple’s lifeless bodies were found holding one another in a poignant embrace, a testament to their love even in their final moments.

The last memories of Mariano and Solana show them joyfully dancing with friends at the wedding, a stark contrast to the tragedy that followed. Before their vehicle overturned, they had communicated with their nanny, who was watching over their two young children. In their message, they expressed their intention to wait for the rain to subside, unaware of the fate that awaited them.

The last known images of the couple alive show them happy and dancing with friends at the wedding.

They sent a message to their nanny, who was looking after their two young children, to say they were going to wait for the rain to ease up, shortly before their car flipped over.

Robles’ brother reported the couple’s disappearance on Sunday morning, and their vehicle was found by emergency workers hours later.

An investigation into the circumstances leading up to their deaths is ongoing, reported local media.

Robles, who worked as a regional civil servant, and Albornoz, who worked for a state-run savings bank, leave behind two young children, ages 5 and 9 months.

A total of three people were killed in the Tucuman region on Saturday night, after a 12-year-old boy was reportedly electrocuted when he touched a utility pole while playing soccer with friends.
