Man shot, Raines High School on lockdown after off-campus shooting, JSO says

Jacksonville’s Raines High School is under lockdown following a shooting incident in the vicinity, as confirmed by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) officials. The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon when a man was shot in a nearby neighborhood.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) reported that the adult victim was transported to the hospital with critical injuries. Fortunately, the man’s condition has since stabilized, according to JSO, and he is not affiliated with the school as a student.

Duval County Public Schools (DCPS) assured First Coast News that both students and staff at Raines High School are safe, emphasizing that the shooting did not occur on the school’s premises. However, they did not provide a timeline for when the lockdown might be lifted.

Residents can expect a significant police presence in the area as JSO collaborates with DCPS to thoroughly investigate the situation.

This situation is still evolving, and First Coast News will continue to update the story as new details become available.
