'Pro-life Spiderman' Maison Des Champs sentenced for climbing Las Vegas Sphere, causing $100K in damage

The man known as the “Pro-life Spiderman” has been sentenced to jail time for scaling the Las Vegas Sphere, an act that resulted in $100,000 worth of damages. This comes after he boasted to law enforcement that he would evade any legal consequences.

Maison Des Champs, an activist and professional climber, was sentenced on Monday to 45 days in jail following his ascent of the 366-foot structure on February 7, 2024. Court documents, reviewed by The Post, confirm this decision.

The Clark County Judge also imposed a suspended sentence of 364 days on Des Champs, indicating the severity of his actions.

Furthermore, Des Champs has been ordered to pay $77,270.32 in restitution to the Sphere Entertainment Complex, the organization led by James Dolan that manages the venue.

Besides his jail sentence and financial obligations, Des Champs will also be on probation for a year.

The 26-year-old embarked on his daring climb across the illuminated panels of the iconic entertainment venue as part of a fundraising effort. His goal was to support a homeless woman named Isabel in canceling her scheduled abortion appointment.

He was initially charged with destroying property greater than $5,000 and conspiracy to destroy private property.

The climber pleaded guilty back in October 2025 to a gross misdemeanor charge of acting with willful or wanton disregard for the safety of people or property.

The Vegas native, then 24, livestreamed himself during his climb, pleading to viewers to donate because “she is homeless and pregnant and needs help.”

The Sphere, covered in 58 million lights, sustained approximately $100,000 from Des Champs viral climb.

Arena officials described the exterior paneling as so fragile that engineers need to work from inside the dome in order to avoid damaging any of the delicate LED screens.

During his arrest, the activist climber told police that he had never been convicted for his stunts and that “his attorneys will get him off this incident as well.”

Des Champs climb raised nearly $48,000 for Isabel through the pro-life non-profit Let Them Live.

The organization said it had reached its goal of $25,000 to give to the woman who had been without reliable housing for months and had scheduled an abortion appointment on Feb. 10, 2024, three days after Des Champs climb.

“Our mission is twofold: to offer Isabel the tangible support she desperately needs and to rally a community around her that believes in the power of hope and action,” Des Champs wrote on the fundraiser. “The climb I’m embarking on today symbolizes more than a physical challenge—it’s a metaphor for the uphill battle Isabel faces every day.”

After the stunt, the expectant mother had canceled her appointment, according to the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children.

Des Champs is expected to be released from jail on June 4.

Days before Des Champs sentencing, acclaimed climber Alex Honnold scaled the Sphere as part of a project titled “From the Edge,” a film set to feature “extreme” athletes.

According to Sphere’s website, the film will be directed by Academy Award winners E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. Filming will take place in Jordan, Dubai, Switzerland, the Bahamas, Austin, Las Vegas and Maui using cameras that would be able to display the content on the Sphere.
