Spencer Pratt responds to reports Donald Trump is about to endorse him

Los Angeles mayoral hopeful Spencer Pratt has responded to a political opponent who highlighted reports suggesting he might gain an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.

Pratt, 42, is in a fierce contest with current mayor Karen Bass and city council member Nithya Raman for the leadership role, tasked with guiding Los Angeles into a new era.

Recent reports indicated that Trump is preparing to support Pratt, a registered Republican campaigning as an Independent, in the upcoming election.

In light of this, Raman swiftly turned to social media platform X, urging her supporters to contribute to her campaign, warning against electing a “MAGA Republican mayor residing in the Bel-Air hotel.”

Pratt, however, was quick to counter her narrative by posting a gif on X, depicting him rolling his eyes and shaking his head in disbelief.

This gif was a scene from a debate where Pratt’s performance stood out against Bass and Raman, the latter of whom faced criticism for her inability to hold her ground against the reality TV personality.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Pratt’s campaign and the White House for comment.

Pratt has drawn comparisons to Trump for his reality TV past and use of aggressive viral messaging.

Reports have sprouted that LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, pictured with his wife, is about to get an endorsement from Donald Trump

Election rival Nithya Raman amplified the reports and asked her followers to donate money to her campaign in response

The news of Trump’s potential endorsement came from gossip columnist Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack blog.

Trump is ‘quietly weighing whether to throw his support behind’ television personality, Shuter said.

An insider told Shuter that ‘Trump loves celebrity candidates, and [Pratt] knows exactly how to dominate headlines.’

The idea of endorsing Pratt, a registered Republican, has ‘absolutely been discussed’ inside the White House ahead of the June 2 primary, according to the report.

A White House official told the Daily Mail on Saturday morning that any endorsement would come directly from Trump on Truth Social.

Trump has frequently criticized Bass, who met with the president at the White House on April 22 to discuss the rebuilding process after the wildfires.

Pratt has insisted he does ‘not represent a party’ after being labeled a ‘MAGA Republican’ by Raman, who is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

‘I represent all of Los Angeles,’ Pratt told NBC Los Angeles last Friday. ‘I don’t have a campaign manager. I don’t have campaign consultants. There’s no political party backing me.’

He faces Raman and incumbent Karen Bass for the role of leader of Los Angeles

The reality star turned mayoral hopeful was widely praised for his performance in a televised debate against Raman and incumbent LA Mayor Karen Bass on May 6, with about 90 percent of viewers declaring him the winner, per an NBC Los Angeles poll.

Pratt, best known until now for appearing on the reality television show The Hills, said he was ‘an angry Angeleno running to get LA to be the number one city.’

‘Their failed leadership is why I’m gonna get elected,’ Pratt added, referring to Bass and Raman.

Pratt has frequently criticized Bass over her handling of the LA wildfires that destroyed thousands of Southern California homes, including his $3.8 million property, in January 2025.

During the debate, Pratt joked that he would rather face only Raman in the election.

‘All the unions support Mayor Bass,’ he said. ‘You think it’s easier to run against the incumbent mayor with all the unions, or a random city council member who has been a failure for six years?’

Pratt’s political run picked up steam as he targeted Bass for how she managed the Palisades Fire, which burned his own home down and left him living in the $2,500-a-night Hotel Bel-Air.

He has also highlighted the high levels of drug use and rampant homelessness in LA, promising a three-week ‘grace period’ to warn criminals, drug users and homeless people to leave the city.

Raman used the moment to ask her supporters for more funds to ‘prove that LA doesn’t want a MAGA Republican mayor who lives in the Bel-Air hotel’

Replying to his opponent Nithya Raman’s post, he posted a gif of him rolling his eyes

‘Signs up across the city: no more nakedness, no more drug use, no more robbing, no more dog abuse,’ he told the All In podcast.

Pratt added that his team would go around and warn everyone that ‘you got three more weeks of this, clock’s ticking.’

‘After that, once we start enforcing the laws: Boom!’ he said. ‘Streets will be back.’

On Friday, Bass said Pratt was ‘tapping into the anger and frustration that people have’ while noting that she thought ‘we’re a celebrity-driven culture.’

‘I don’t think he has a clue [about] how to run the nation’s second largest city,’ Bass told ABC 7.

Earlier this month, Bass had accused Pratt of ‘exploiting the grief’ of the Palisades Fire victims.

‘Honestly, before this, I had never heard of Spencer Pratt,’ Bass said. ‘I think that’s reprehensible. He is about his own celebrity. He’s famous now again.’

Pratt responded to Bass’s remarks by calling them the ‘most insane, psycho diabolical thing I’ve heard in a minute.’

Trump has not officially endorsed any candidate in the LA race but has been critical of incumbent Karen Bass

‘I’m not sure if Karen Bass forgot that she let my house burn down and my parents’ house burn down,’ Pratt told Fox News’ Will Cain Show.

Pratt added that he had ‘actual neighbors burn alive across the street from my childhood home.

‘The only grief is my grief, my community’s grief, that I initially started this fight on behalf of, and she forgets I’ve received two community advocate awards from the Pacific Palisades community.’
