JSO: Man turns himself in nearly 2 years after woman killed in Christmas Day shooting

A 47-year-old man named Thomas Banks has been taken into custody by detectives from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office following his confession to the murder of a 39-year-old woman on Christmas Day.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In a significant development, a Jacksonville man has been arrested after he voluntarily surrendered to the authorities on Tuesday. He is accused of fatally shooting a woman on December 25, 2024.

Investigators identified Thomas Banks as a suspect and apprehended him on Tuesday morning after he confessed to the murder of Lisa Santos, aged 39.

The tragic incident occurred at an apartment complex on Dunn Avenue, where officers responded on the day of the crime. They discovered Santos suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest, and unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.
