LOS ANGELES — Twenty-two designers are heading into the workroom for Season 22 of “Project Runway,” which Heidi Klum says will be “bigger, bolder and more beautiful.”
A newly released trailer offers a closer look at the upcoming season, teasing guest appearances, celebrity judges and the return of a familiar face to the runway.
Tyra Banks is set to return as a recurring judge after making a guest-judge appearance in Season 21.
The 22 contestants, coming from a wide range of backgrounds, will compete for an opportunity to elevate their careers.
Klum, Law Roach and Nina Garcia are back at the judges’ table, while Christian Siriano returns to guide the designers as mentor.
Season 22 will also include guest judges Ciara, Fausto Puglisi, Ice Spice, Iman, Kiernan Shipka, Niecy Nash, Nina Dobrev, Sergio Hudson, Willy Chavarria and Winnie Harlow, along with cameos from entrepreneur Becca Bloom, comedian Hannah Berner, costume designer Molly Rogers and others.
Stars from Hulu’s “Get Real” universe will also hit the runway as models in one episode this season.
On The Red Carpet caught up with Klum at Hulu’s Get Real event, where she teased the crossover fun.
“Charity Lawson (“The Bachelorette”) and also Sarah Jane Nader (“Love Thy Nader”), they were the models for one episode, which was fantastic, you know, so we have a lot kind of overlapping from different shows and it was so much fun to have them being the models and I have to say some of them did like a better job than our real models, I was like good for you,” she said.
“Project Runway” premieres July 9 on Freeform, Hulu and Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Freeform, Hulu, Disney+ and this ABC station.
