US Central Command said the latest operation was launched on Trump’s orders and was aimed at further weakening Iran’s capacity to endanger shipping through one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors.
CENTCOM added that the United States was taking action in response to what it described as Iran’s “recent unjustified aggression” against commercial vessels and civilian crews traveling through the vital international waterway.
The White House did not immediately answer The Post’s request for comment. Earlier, however, Trump said the cease-fire was “over” and indicated he was no longer interested in negotiating with what he called the regime’s “sick” leaders.
