The summer transfer window is open once again, running until September 1, and clubs across Europe are expected to stay busy as they look to strengthen their squads before the new season.

Here are the latest transfer developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Inter Milan are considering a summer move for Tottenham full-back Djed Spence as they explore options to bolster their squad.

Everton have also held discussions over a potential deal for Spence, although they are not currently pursuing the move in an active way.

The Serie A club are also looking at the possibility of signing England defender John Stones, who is available as a free agent after leaving Manchester City.

Inter remain interested in Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, but they have so far fallen well short of matching the Anfield club’s £35million valuation.

Man City to host showcase game for fringe stars 

Meanwhile, Manchester City are set to stage a showcase match on Tuesday, giving some of their fringe players a chance to attract attention.

Around 90 clubs are expected to be represented in the stands after they were invited to attend the game and view potential loan or permanent buy targets.

City players such as Preston North End target Divin Mubama, Matty Warhurst and Reigan Heskey are all due to play a part as clubs from the UK and abroad come to take a close look.

City have also scheduled a further showcase game against Salford City on August 4.

Trossard heading to Turkey

Leandro Trossard is expected in Turkey on Tuesday ahead of completing his transfer from Arsenal to Besiktas.

The Belgium international and his agent Dirk Hebel are ironing out final details ahead of agreeing a four year contract.

Arsenal had already agreed a £17.5million fee for the 31-year-old.

Villa want Estupinan

As mentioned this morning on Window Watch, AC Milan’s Pervis Estupinan is on Aston Villa’s radar.

The 28-year-old Ecuador international left-back is one of a number of targets being assessed by Villa should Lucas Digne re-join Paris St Germain, as reported by Tom Collomosse.

RB Leipzig move for £21m Burnley star 

Burnley defender Maxime Esteve is due at RB Leipzig’s training ground later this week for a medical ahead of a £21million transfer.

The 24-year-old centre back has agreed to the move which will be ratified pending his medical.

Highly-rated Esteve has impressed since joining from Montpellier in 2024. His deal will also include add-ons.

Wolves leave £23.4m star out of Portugal training camp 

Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare has been left out of their squad for the pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Wolves have rejected loan bids for the player from Fiorentina and Trabzonspor, while a number of other clubs are also interested.

Arokodare cost Wolves £23.4million in September and had a dressing room bust-up with Mateus Mane last season.

Fiorentina are expected to return with an improved bid for Arokodare, who has ruled himself out of a move to Trabzonspor.

Wrexham target Premier League goalkeeper

Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has emerged as a target for ambitious Championship side Wrexham.

Club to club talks are underway over a possible deal but there are other teams showing an interest in the 26-year-old.

Patterson is valued around the £7million mark and spent the second half of last season on loan at Wrexham’s promotion rivals Millwall where he made 14 appearances as they narrowly missed out in the play-offs.

The Leicester midfielder is set to sign a two-year contract with the Serie A side.

The 30-year-old former Tottenham star watched Leicester’s 3-0 pre-season win over Northampton on Saturday but was expected to leave after Cagliari agreed terms last week.

Leicester are in throes of adding attacking midfielder Conor Chaplin, formerly of Ipswich, on a free and ex-Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, also a free.

Santos completes switch

Manchester United have completed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m.

The agreement is £48m plus £2m in add-ons. Chelsea will also retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Santos becomes the first signing with Michael Carrick as head coach.

Tigers on the prowl in transfer market

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has confirmed interest in Croatia internationals Marco Pasalic of Orlando City and HNK Rijeka’s Toni Fruk, plus Hajduk Split’s Rokas Pukštas, a USA Under-23 international.

The three are on an extensive list of targets being worked on by the Premier League new boys who expect to confirm Okan Ozkan as their new sporting director over the next 48 hours.

The Tigers have been in talks with Ozkan, who had been working at Polish club Pogon Szczecin. But the Polish club’s Canadian owner Alex Haditaghi sparked a social media spat with his Hull counterpart Acun Ilicali.

Haditaghi threatened legal action over Hull’s approach for Ozkan, in a succession of messages, whilst copying in the Football Association and Premier League.

Hull still expect to sign Oscar Zambrano from sister club Maribor, and are agreeing a £3m deal to sign Mjallby’s Swedish World Cup left-back Elliot Stroud.

Gunners keeping tabs on Barcola 

Arsenal still remain attentive to Bradley Barcola’s situation at Paris Saint-Germain.

They also admire Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and accept both will be expensive to prise away.

Liverpool also admire Barcola. He is one of a number of wide attackers being assessed by the club but they are yet to make a formal enquiry.

Arsenal are awaiting Leandro Trossard’s decision over his proposed move to Besiktas.

The Gunners have a deal lined up for Christos Tzolis from Bruges which they may accelerate when Trossard leaves.

Another player that is on Arsenal’s radar but lower down their list is Norway’s Antonio Nusa.

The RB Leipzig winger had a decent World Cup on the back of making 35 appearances in the Bundesliga last season but there have been concerns about his knee condition since a move from Bruges to Brentford collapsed on medical grounds in 2024. A specialist later cleared him to play and he joined Leipzig.

Meanwhile, midfielder Christian Norgaard is attracting interest from Saudi club Al Jazira.

Dobbin closes on Southampton move 

Aston Villa forward Lewis Dobbin is closing on a £9million move to Southampton.

The 23-year-old scored 10 goals on loan at Preston last season and was also wanted by Wolves, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United. Villa will receive further add-ons based on performances and appearances.

Villa, who are finalising a club-record deal for Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi, have also been offered the chance to sign Pervis Estupinan from AC Milan.

The 28-year-old left back previously played for Watford, Brighton and Villarreal.
