A small white sheepdog turned into an unlikely hero in Orange County, helping emergency crews make room for a helicopter landing during a rescue response.
Laguna Beach police and fire personnel were dispatched Friday to an emergency in the foothills, the Laguna Beach Police Department said in a social media post.
As ground crews worked to clear a trail for the incoming helicopter, they encountered an obstacle: a herd of goats blocking the area. That’s when the dog responsible for watching over them jumped into action.
“The sheepdog stepped up and helped guide a group of goats out of the way so the units could work,” the department said in the post.
Drone video showed the energetic pup racing ahead of the large herd, steering the goats away from the landing zone so first responders could continue their work.
In one close-up moment, the white dog appeared delighted as he climbed toward the top of the hill, tail wagging, with dozens of small goats trailing behind him.
“That’s a good boy,” the department wrote.
The video quickly drew attention online, with many social media users praising the pup for lending a paw during the emergency.
“Hero,” one person wrote.
“Nicely done,” another person added.
“Good dog,” opined a third commenter.
Exactly what the emergency response was for was unclear, as there was no other information provided at the time.
