A neighborhood dispute in Florida over dog feces allegedly left in driveways has escalated into felony charges for a man accused of taking the conflict far beyond a typical argument.
Trey Decloedt, 35, was released on bond after being arrested Aug. 8 in connection with a confrontation involving his neighbors. According to a probable cause affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime, officers were called to a home in Leesburg, Florida, on Aug. 7 after a couple reported an incident with Decloedt. The neighbors told police they had been locked in an “ongoing dispute” with him over dog feces being left on both their driveway and his. The husband said the situation “escalated” that day when Decloedt allegedly entered their home without permission.
The neighbor told police Decloedt was “visibly irate” and allegedly had dog feces in his hand when he came inside.
After Decloedt was handcuffed and taken in for questioning, police read him his rights, and he agreed to speak with investigators. The affidavit says he maintained his version of events, adding that he and the neighbor had once been close friends and had an understanding that they could go onto each other’s properties “without knocking.”
When officers asked the neighbor about that claim, the neighbor showed them a video in which he could be heard telling Decloedt “not to come to his property or his house regarding the dispute about dog feces.”
Decloedt was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, burglary with assault or battery, and simple battery. He posted a $16,000 bond on Aug. 9 and was released from custody. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 31.
