A frightening ordeal ended with a purr-fect rescue.
Three newborn kittens trapped inside an industrial shredder on Long Island were pulled to safety by alert maintenance workers, according to heartwarming video.
The employees heard what sounded like “screams” coming from the machinery Thursday. They quickly unscrewed the equipment and discovered three tiny black kittens inside, animal rescuer John Debacker told The Post.
After finding the helpless animals, one worker carefully covered them with a towel and contacted Debacker, a Long Island “catman” known for taking on difficult rescues.
Debacker, 33, who lives in Bellmore, rushed to the Oyster Bay maintenance yard to help.
Video he shared on Facebook shows the kittens purring inside the shredder as an employee dismantles the machine. Moments later, the kittens’ tiny heads come into view.
Debacker then carefully removed all three kittens from the machinery and brought them to safety.
“Workers at a maintenance yard heard screams coming from inside a shredder that would have completely obliterated them if the machine was turned on, but thankfully their quick thinking saved them,” Debacker wrote on Facebook.
The kittens are now being cared for by a bottle feeder and will eventually be placed up for adoption, Debacker said.
“They’re doing good right now,” he added.
