A Delta Air Lines jet collided Tuesday with an Air Canada aircraft that was being towed toward its gate shortly after arriving at Los Angeles International Airport, according to both carriers.
Delta Flight 7, scheduled to fly to Tokyo, had 275 passengers and 15 crew members aboard when its left wingtip struck the Air Canada plane, a Delta spokesperson told News Outlet. No injuries were reported at the time.
“While taxiing at Los Angeles International Airport, a Delta aircraft made contact with an Air Canada aircraft,” Delta said in a statement. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people, and we apologize to our customers for the experience and delay in their travel.”

Air Canada Flight AC785 had arrived in Los Angeles from Toronto and was being moved to its gate when the collision occurred, the airline told News Outlet.
“An aircraft operated by another airline made contact with its tail,” Air Canada said. “There are no reported injuries. The Air Canada aircraft will be taken out of service for inspection and repairs.”

Video shared online by TMZ appeared to show a noticeable gash on one of the Air Canada aircraft’s wings.
No injuries were reported, Air Canada said. Delta maintenance personnel and airport crews were examining the Airbus A350-900, while the airline worked to rebook passengers and considered “recovery options” for the delayed trip.

Delta said it would cooperate with the National Transportation Safety Board, which is expected to investigate the incident.
The incident comes months after a regional Air Canada aircraft collided with a Port Authority airport vehicle at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport in March. That crash destroyed the plane’s nose, killed two pilots and injured dozens of people.
