It was bare-knuckles politics in Yonkers.
A Wednesday night candidates forum took an extraordinary turn when Kisha Skipper, the Democratic candidate challenging Republican Westchester County Legislator James Nolan, became involved in a bathroom altercation with Nolan’s mother.
Skipper was handcuffed and detained by police following the reported scuffle at the Beczak Environmental Center, according to reports.
“There is absolutely no justification for violence,” Nolan wrote on Instagram. “Anyone seeking public office is expected to demonstrate sound judgment, self-control, and the ability to handle confrontation without resorting to physical aggression.
“These standards are not optional,” he added. “This is a clear example of why she is not fit to serve public office.”
Yonkers police did not immediately respond to a request for information Thursday.

Skipper addressed the confrontation in an early-morning Facebook post, appearing in a sling outside a hospital emergency room.
“Let me just say, I know there’s a lot of video, a lot of misinformation being spread,” she said. “No, I was not arrested. Yes, I was detained pending an investigation. Of course, I was released, and there will be more information forthcoming.”
According to local outlet Black Westchester, the incident began during a break in the forum when Skipper and Nolan’s mother, Donna, argued in a bathroom. The confrontation then escalated, with punches reportedly thrown.
The outlet reported that the dispute followed a question about alleged questionable campaign donations. Skipper reportedly left to use the bathroom without answering, and Donna Nolan and another woman allegedly followed her inside.
Cellphone video appears to show several women confronting one another near the restroom entrance before attendees intervened and separated them.
Donna Nolan was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Details about any injuries she may have suffered were not immediately available.
