Luxury Real Estate Brothers Sentenced to 30 Years for Years-Long Sex Trafficking Scheme

Three brothers convicted of using their wealth, luxury trips and high-end properties to draw women into a yearslong sex-trafficking operation were sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in federal prison.

U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni imposed the sentences on Tal Alexander, 40, and his twin brothers, Oren and Alon Alexander, both 39, in federal court in New York.

The punishment marks a dramatic collapse for the brothers. Tal and Oren, in particular, had built prominent careers as luxury real estate brokers, representing multimillion-dollar properties and serving affluent clients.

A federal jury found all three guilty in March of conspiring to commit sex trafficking, inducing travel for unlawful sexual activity and multiple counts of sex trafficking through force, fraud or coercion.

Federal prosecutors had urged Caproni to sentence each brother to life in prison. Defense attorneys argued for the mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years.

Before the sentences were announced, 11 accusers spoke in court about the lasting effects of the assaults, The Associated Press reported.

“It took one night, only a few hours, one invitation to completely wreck the girl I once was,” one woman, speaking under a pseudonym, told the court, according to the AP.

In a court filing, prosecutors alleged that the brothers raped or sexually assaulted at least 70 women and described them as “serial rapists.”

During the four-week trial, 11 women testified for the prosecution, including several who said they were minors when the encounters occurred.

The witnesses said the brothers gave them gifts and arranged flights to parties and other destinations, where they were allegedly drugged before being sexually assaulted.

In closing arguments, prosecutor Andrew Jones said the brothers presented themselves as wealthy partygoers while targeting women for abuse.

“They used a consistent playbook to lure, isolate and rape their victims,” Jones told jurors. “They did it with callousness and a perverse sense of pride.”

The brothers denied the sex-crime allegations throughout the trial. Their lawyers maintained that the sexual encounters were consensual and accused prosecutors of pursuing the case too aggressively.

The three brothers addressed the court before sentencing and continued to deny drugging or raping women, the AP reported.

“I am not here to discount what they have said,” Oren Alexander said of the accusers who spoke in court.

He expressed regret for some of his past behavior toward women but insisted that he and his brothers had not committed the crimes for which they were convicted.

“My brothers and I have never drugged or raped anyone. We never trafficked anyone for sex and we never conspired to hurt anyone,” Oren said.

Lindsey Acree, who testified that Tal Alexander and another man raped her at a Hamptons home in 2011 after she drank something that left her feeling paralyzed, questioned why the brothers had inflicted such harm on women.

“The biggest thing is why? Why did you do this?” Acree told the court, the AP reported. “I don’t understand the cruelty. I don’t understand the hatred towards women.”

Long before their arrests, Oren and Tal Alexander had become major players in luxury real estate.

The pair rose through the ranks at Douglas Elliman, where they brokered major deals, including the nearly $240 million sale of a penthouse in 2019 that was then the most expensive residential sale in U.S. history. They later co-founded the luxury real estate firm Official in 2022.

Unlike his brothers, Alon Alexander did not work in real estate and was an executive at his family’s private security company.

Court filings previously obtained by News Outlet alleged the brothers used “the promise of luxury experiences, travel, and accommodations” to lure women to locations where they were then sexually assaulted.

Their alleged sexual violence stretched back more than two decades, beginning when the brothers were in high school in Miami, prosecutors said.

After the jury returned its verdict in March, U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton described their conduct as “calculated, brutal sexual abuse that, unimaginably, the defendants celebrated.”

All three brothers were arrested in 2024 and had remained in custody without bail through Tuesday’s sentencing.
