A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in broad daylight while walking to school in the Bronx on Thursday, police and law enforcement sources said.
The teenager was struck in the stomach at about 9:25 a.m. near East 171st Street and Third Avenue in Claremont, according to authorities.
Officers transported him in a marked police vehicle to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was initially listed in stable condition, officials said.
His condition quickly deteriorated, however, and he was pronounced dead roughly two hours later, police said.
