A true-crime influencer obsessed with the case of Lindsay Clancy has been charged with allegedly posting a secretly recorded phone call involving the father of Clancy’s estranged husband on social media.
Shawna Gramkow, 46, of Sanford, Florida, faces one count of unlawful wiretapping after allegedly sharing audio of a recording involving Christopher Clancy on her Instagram account, saltylunatics, on Aug. 30, according to court documents.
Christopher Clancy filed a police report Sept. 7 after recognizing his own voice in the recording posted to Gramkow’s page, the documents state.
The court filing did not identify the person on the other end of the call, detail the full conversation or say who made the recording.
It described the audio as “mostly unintelligible,” but said Christopher “recognized some of his comments as being in regard to his eldest son Brian.”
Christopher, who testified during Lindsay Clancy’s trial in connection with the deaths of her three young children, recalled receiving a call from an unknown number while driving on Aug. 6. Clancy’s trial had been underway for several weeks at the time.
“Instead of declining the incoming call; he believes he accidentally answered, creating an open line of communication for the unknown calling party who proceeded to record [Christopher] Clancy’s comments without his knowledge or consent,” the court documents allege.
In the video accompanying the post, Gramkow allegedly claimed that Lindsay’s attorney had “released Patrick’s phone number” and that someone had called him.
“Now on this particular call, Patrick’s dad was still on the line, he was kind of mumbling still on the phone, I guess he didn’t know that the phone was still going,” she said, according to the court filing.
The post appears to have been deleted from Gramkow’s Instagram account, which had 886 followers and included numerous posts promoting conspiracy theories about Clancy’s trial. Fox News reported that Gramkow has more than 50,000 followers across social-media platforms.
Gramkow has been summoned to appear in Scituate criminal court in Massachusetts on Nov. 20, court records show.
In a Facebook post, Gramkow appeared to refer to the criminal case, writing that the “allegations are false and easy to prove.” In another post dated Oct. 27, she shared a link to a GoFundMe campaign and said she needed to take steps “to protect myself right away.”
“Thank you for your support and continued support as we navigate the rough waters,” she wrote.
The fundraiser had collected more than $13,000 as of Friday and said Gramkow needed money to obtain legal representation.
Lindsay Clancy’s trial ended with a hung jury Sept. 4 after attracting national attention and prompting baseless online conspiracy theories about Patrick Clancy.
Prosecutors alleged that Lindsay planned and carried out the killings of her and Patrick’s three children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months — on Jan. 24, 2023.
Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, urged jurors to find her not guilty by reason of insanity. He argued that she was experiencing severe postpartum psychosis, hearing a man’s voice ordering her to kill the children and then attempting to take her own life.
Prosecutors have said they intend to retry the case. Clancy is due back in court Monday as both sides continue disputing whether a second trial should proceed.
Patrick divorced Lindsay after her arrest and has since married Rachel Danis, who is pregnant with his child.
The Post was unable to locate a working telephone number for Gramkow, and it was not immediately clear who was representing her.
