A private jet carrying nine people crashed into a South Florida neighborhood Sunday afternoon, triggering a massive fireball roughly nine miles from Mar-a-Lago.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft went down in a residential area near Cresthaven, Florida, at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 1.
“Nine people were on board,” the FAA said.
The agency said the aircraft had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was bound for North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

The FAA said it would investigate the crash alongside the National Transportation Safety Board. The NTSB will lead the investigation and issue further updates, the agency added.
Emergency responders closed Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North and urged residents and drivers to stay away from the area.
“Aircraft Incident,” Palm Beach County Fire Rescue said in a post on X. “Avoid the area. This will be an extended incident.”
Videos posted on social media appeared to show the aircraft descending rapidly before an explosion sent flames and thick smoke into the sky.
