Thieves reportedly stole $11.4 million worth of Nvidia computer hardware after a cargo truck carrying the shipment disappeared in Southern California.
The truck, bearing the logo of a food company, departed Oakland on Aug. 29 with six pallets of Nvidia equipment headed to Fort Worth, Texas, the East Bay Times reported. The delivery initially appeared to be proceeding normally.
But somewhere along the route south, both the truck and its drivers allegedly vanished. Investigators were left trying to reconstruct the journey and locate the multimillion-dollar cargo.
Authorities eventually lost track of the vehicle in San Bernardino County. According to the report, the truck had made several stops that lasted for hours before it disappeared.
The theft was not reported until early September, giving the suspected thieves days to disappear with the valuable shipment. No arrests have been reported.
The case is the latest in a series of high-value thefts involving Nvidia-related equipment, as the artificial intelligence boom drives up demand — and prices — for data center hardware.

In September, thieves stole two semi-trailers bearing Nvidia and PlusAI branding from a warehouse in Newark, California. The suspects appeared to be targeting a lucrative shipment of AI graphics processing units and other chips.
Instead, they ended up with 40,000 pounds of sand.
The trailers had been deliberately filled with sand rather than the expensive Nvidia hardware the thieves apparently expected to find.
During a separate heist in June, thieves stole a transport trailer loaded with valuable data center servers as it traveled east toward Georgia. The robbery reportedly forced an escort vehicle to pull over, NBC reported.
The trailer was later found abandoned and empty at a Stockton truck yard. By then, however, the high-value equipment was gone.
