Jonah Hill reveals thinnest-ever frame amid weight loss journey

Jonah Hill looked thinner than ever while filming on set amid his major weight loss transformation.

The 41-year-old actor showed off the results of his health journey in between takes for his upcoming comedy film Cut Off.

He wore a soccer jersey and a pair of jeans, both of which hung loosely on his slim physique.

The 21 Jump Street actor, who has slimmed down through boxing and Japanese diets, was spotted leaving his trailer with a paper plate and glass as he mingled with crew members.

Rather than wearing his character’s bleach blonde wig, he threw on a San Diego Padres baseball cap and a pair of all-black sunglasses.

Hill recently began filming Cut Off, where he serves as the director, producer, co-writer, and leading role.

His all-star cast for his forthcoming movie Cut Off includes Kristen Wiig, Bette Midler and Nathan Lane.

Wiig and Hill portray privileged siblings in the film whose affluent parents withdraw their financial support. The movie is set for release next summer, with a premiere date of July 17, 2026.

In 2023, Hill candidly spoke with his therapist, Phil Stutz, about his weight fluctuations while working on his second directorial project, the Netflix documentary Stutz.

‘When I was a kid, exercise and diet was framed to me as like, “There’s something wrong with how you look,”‘ the Winning Time director recalled.

‘But never once was exercise and diet propositioned to me in terms of mental health. I just wish that was presented to people differently.’

Hill revealed that growing up overweight significantly affected him, stating he still feels like an overweight teenager with acne who struggles with feeling undesirable.

“Deep down, I still feel like an unlovable person,” Hill shared. “The challenge is moving toward understanding that it’s okay to be who I am. But that remains difficult.”

Hill first publicly slimmed down in 2011 after hiring a nutritionist and a fitness trainer on the advice of his 21 Jump Street co-star Channing Tatum, which he mentioned on The Tonight Show in 2016.

Hill’s weight went up to 270 pounds in 2014; but by 2017, he had shed weight.

In 2022, he revealed in a statement to Deadline that he would not be promoting the film nor any of his upcoming movies after realizing that public appearances were ‘exacerbating’ his mental health issues.

‘The whole purpose of making this film is to give therapy and the tools I’ve learned in therapy to a wide audience for private use through an entertaining film,’ he explained.

‘Through this journey of self-discovery within the film, I have come to the understanding that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public facing events,’ he wrote.

‘I can’t wait to share it with audiences around the world in the hope that it will help those struggling, however, you won’t see me out there promoting this film, or any of my upcoming films, while I take this important step to protect myself,’ he continued.

‘If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film.’

The actor, who has appeared in dozens of movies over the past 18 years, made it clear, however, that he is not retiring from acting permanently.

He ended his statement by sharing his hope that his documentary will help to ‘make it normal for people to talk and act on’ their mental health struggles.
