A man in East Cleveland, Ohio, has been charged with the alleged murder of his grandfather and brother, as well as injuring two officers during a manhunt, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office.

Aaron Sharp, 24, was charged with the following, according to the prosecutor’s office:

  • Two counts of aggravated murder
  • Four counts of murder
  • Two counts of attempted aggravated murder
  • Eight counts of felonious assault
  • Two counts of tampering with evidence

The incident began with a 911 call reporting a domestic shooting at a home on Taylor Road around 11 p.m. on August 7. Officer Joshua Durda was shot in the leg outside the home while responding to the call and confronting the suspect, Sharp.

That triggered a manhunt during which East Cleveland Officer Brandon Hernandez was also shot.

Sharp was captured the following morning by U.S. Marshals. They found him hiding in bushes near Shaw High School, naked and wrapped in plastic bags, and used a Taser to detain him.

Sharp’s grandfather, Charles Roscoe, 82, and brother, Erik Sharp, 22, were both killed in the shootings, which court documents said was planned.

Both officers are expected to make a full recovery.

“This case is incredibly heartbreaking,” stated Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “The pain caused by Aaron Sharp to his family is beyond words. We are committed to ensuring he is held responsible, and we hope the family can find healing from this terrible incident.”

If convicted of aggravated murder, Sharp could be sentenced to life imprisonment. His arraignment is scheduled at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center.
